Phone numbers should be as easy to pass on as a domain name or a Stripe customer. We are building the service that makes that true.
For decades, the only way to give your phone number to someone else was to switch carriers, sign paperwork, wait two to four weeks, and hope nothing broke in the middle. The phone number, the most fundamental piece of digital identity many of us own, was the hardest thing to move.
Meanwhile, every other piece of a small business has become trivially transferable. You can sell a domain in five minutes on Sedo. You can hand over a Stripe customer base. You can transfer ownership of a Shopify store, a GitHub repo, a Notion workspace, a Mailchimp list. The phone line that customers actually call? Stuck in 2005.
Lendline is what happens when you build a phone service from scratch around the moment of handover.
You should decide who holds your number, when it moves, and to whom. Not a customer service rep at a telco.
Every step of the handover should fit in a single conversation. Anything more than a link and a click is a failure of design.
We are a small service running on the shoulders of regulated carriers. We follow their rules, we publish ours, and we enforce both.
We do not pretend to be a privacy app, a verification service, or an account creation tool. There are services for those use cases, and Lendline is not one of them. We are a phone line that you can hand to someone else when the moment calls for it. That is the whole product.
Lendline is built and operated by a small distributed team of operators and engineers who have spent the last several years building software for small businesses, agencies, and independent professionals. We have run into the "I want to give you my number" problem ourselves, more times than we can count, and decided to build the answer.
We are not currently raising outside capital. Lendline is funded by its founders and its customers, which is the way we like it.
